Die Zauberflöte
Wolfgang A. Mozart
Conductor: Georg Fritzsch
Stage Direction: Axel Köhler
Premiere: 07.11.2009 19h30
Mr. Gunnell will be reviving the role of Tamino in a new production iunder renowned German stage director Axel Köhler and Chefdiregent of the TLT Georg Fritzsch. The well loved fantasy story of a Prince, hunted in a far off fantasyland by a dragon, rescued by three servant women of the court, only to be befriended by a quirky bird-man is loved by child and adult alike. Written as a social treatise on the merits of Free Masonry, the story captures all in its battle between valour and cowardice, truth and falsity, and light versus dark. With magic flutes and enchanted glockenspiels, Tamino and Papageno adventure their way through the enchanted forests in search of the kidnapped princess Pamina, and dicover the truth of the “evil villian” Sarastro. Sung in German with spoken German dialogue. For more information, see: http://www.landestheater.at/stueck.php?id=424
